Further Thoughts

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2012

Yeah, wall of text on the “update.” And not the update anyone was hoping for, I’m sure. However, its what I think needs to happen, at least for now. I’ve still got a bunch of conventions I’m going to be going to this year. By all means, do come out to them and voice your displeasure and sadness to me in person.

Connecticon July 13-15th, Hartford CT

Otakon July 27-29th, Baltimore MD

SPX Sept 14-16, Bethesda MD

Intervention Sept 21-23, Rockville MD <– this one is a small and intimate con, so you’re sure to get maximum “whyyyyyyyyy?!!!” time with me.

AWA Sept 28-30, Atlanta GA

NYCC Oct 12-14, NYC NY

Nekocon Nov 2-4, Hampton Roads, VA

I will answer what questions I can. Thank you all for your understanding and being the best audience a guy could ever ask for.

I’m excellent at worrying people.

Just a quickie update: I know it’s been too long coming, but I’m alive. I got Alice worked out (turns out my wireless card was being stupid). I’m not dead! (thank you for your concern though. nice to know I’m missed) I AM working on the comic, and I hope to have it updating again in the next couple of weeks. I know. More waiting. I’m sorry, I really am. In the mean time I’m slogging through the work that pays the bills as fast as I can. I will be back soon I hope. And I think it will be worth the wait. Thank you all.

If it’s not one thing…

Wednesday, March 7th, 2012

Hey guys. I know you’ve been missing the updates, I’ve been missing them too. My office space has been under renovation for the last four odd weeks, and it’s finally done. A lot of that time I was doing cons, true, but the last two weeks I’ve been relegated to a portion of the dining room table, which let me tell you… is not a proper work space. That really threw a kink into my system, and if that weren’t simply bad enough, now that I actually AM set back up semi-properly and truly raring to work, my darling computer Alice has gotten something mucked up to the point where so much of her processing power is in use that my cursor skips, effectively ruining any hope I have of doing art. I’m working on resolving that problem.

Assuming I can IT my way out of figuring out what driver error is causing between 5-15% of my CPU to be eaten up by System Interrupts, even then I am facing a mountain of backlogged commission work. I love doing this comic as much if not more than you guys love reading it, which is quite a lot based on some of the emails I get. However, I owe my clients the work first.

I am sorry that you guys are having to put up with delay after delay. It drives ME mad, and I can only imagine how disappointing it must be for you who have supported and encouraged me all these years. Please rest assured, FK isn’t dead. I’ll be back to update more. I’m just having a really bad bout of shitty timing right now. I’ll be back as soon as I can.

End of the Chapter

Tuesday, January 24th, 2012

Just a quick notice for you guys, so you don’t think I’m leaving you hanging: between the prepping for my first cons of the year and being sick, I threw off the emperor’s groove. This is even worse because I’M the emperor. I’m quite discontent.

HOWEVER! There should be an update this Friday, and again on Tuesday the 31st, which should wrap up this chapter and set us up for even more shenanigans! Dun-dun-dun! Be forwarned, I am going to take a short break to catch up on my writing and a few other projects, so Chapter 7 should begin on the 21st of February. Which incidentally is right after Katsucon, the last of my winter conventions. So we should be ready to roll back into things.

I’ve been doing a lot of soul searching lately, but I won’t bore you with that nonsense. I believe I’ve still got a few sneaky awesome tricks tucked up my sleeve. Soon to share with you all.

New Year, New Page, New Wallpaper

Tuesday, January 3rd, 2012

Annnd 2012 is here! Woo! 2011 was a year of ups and downs. When it was good, it was great. When it was bad, it was really bad. I’m looking to cut out the bad bit in 2012 and just keep with the good stuff. There’s a lot of great things in development, I hope to be able to share them with you soon. Until then, rest assured there will be an update today (the 3rd), it’s just going to be in the PM.

Also: I found the pencil work for a wallpaper I had intended to post OVER A YEAR AGO to coincide with the new website design. Ha. I should know better that to schedule shit around how fast I can get something coded. Anyway, I finished it up, and it looks AWESOME.

New Page Friday

Tuesday, December 20th, 2011

Oops. Sorry guys, I meant to post this earlier. I was out of town this weekend to pick up my grandmother so she could spend Christmas with us. So the comic has been delayed slightly. There’ll still be an update this week, but it’ll be on Friday. Updates should continue on a Tuesday basis after that. Thanks for your patience, and happy holidays to all of you!

Technical Difficulties

Tuesday, November 15th, 2011

Hey guys.  Well, there was kinda supposed to be a comic up today.  Or at very least more superhero art here in the blog.  Unfortunately, Alice, my work computer, is having some technical difficulties.  She’s… forgotten how my tablet is supposed to work, and I new drivers don’t do anything to fix the issue.  Furthermore, instead of rebooting or powering down like she ought to, she takes forever to shut down and ultimately crashes due to a DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE.  When she’s on she works, but is fairly useless for arting purposes.  I’m doing my best to get her working properly again.  This may result in a complete re-install if not hardware replacement.  I’m sorry for the inconvenience.  I’ll keep you all posted as best I can.

Updates!

Tuesday, October 11th, 2011

First off I’d like to thank all of you who sent me letters during my little breakdown there, letting me know how much you guys enjoyed the comic.  They really meant a lot to me.  Thank you.  I’m doing my best to keep this sucker rolling, and I feel I’ve faltered in that largely due to projected goals and deadlines being pushed back time and time and time again.  Sometimes I had a hand in that, sometimes there was nothing I could do.  Regardless, it’s bummed me out over the course of the last… six months?  Longer?  Hard to say anymore.  Regardless!  I’m updating again, and I’ll continue updating as often as I can!

Being all introspective and what not, I’ve realized I’m not really a comic artist.  I’m an artist/illustrator/whatever you want to call it who happens to do a comic in his spare time.  That’s right, I actually have a day job.  Well, sort of.  Not in the 9-5 sense, but in the sense of that’s how I keep a roof over my head and keep the comic updating as best I can.  It’s a strange realization for me.  Maybe not for anyone else, but for me, it’s interesting to see myself in that light.  I mention this mostly because, at long last you can now acquire a large selection of my artwork in MULTIPLE SIZES!  In addition to the jumbo 16×20″ prints, my art can now be purchased online in the more space-saving 10×13″ and 8×10″ sizes!  Huzzah!

I also have a number of new T-shirt designs available for pre-order.  Now you don’t have to track me down at a convention to find the wall-art you’re looking for.  Not that I’d ever discourage you from trying to find me at a convention.  Speaking of, my last convention of the year is going to be Nekocon, the first weekend of November.  I’ll be running some awesome panels, and it should be a blast!  I hope to see at least some of you guys there!

Time for an Intervention!

Friday, September 16th, 2011

Well folks, sad to say FK is going to have to be on hiatus until next Friday.  I’m having to take some time away from the comic to work on some other projects.  Yeah, I apparently go crazy a lot faster than I thought I would.  Ah well.  Good cliffhanger, right?

This weekend I’ll be in rockville at Intervention!  Gonna rock it out with a little art fight, a bunch of awesome panels, including one where I’m gonna bring up Comedity, my previous comic which I haven’t talked about seriously in a long while.  If you’re in the area, you should come down.  It’s a great show!

More updates as they happen!
