Back From the Dead

Heh. Kind of a macabre title, I suppose, but fitting. (if you don’t get it, see previous post)

First off, I would like to thank ALL OF YOU kind and wonderful people for all of the supporting comments and emails. You guys are the greatest bunch of people, and I could not be luckier to have fans like you. Thank you all. You all have been so amazingly good and kind to me. I am going to try to be worthy of that kindness.

As such, I’m declaring an end to the general lethargy that has been prevalent throughout this site as of late. I’m updating again. Colors for this week’s page will be a little late (still getting back into the swing of things a touch), but the important part is that there is in fact a page. And more important than that is that I’m writing again. I haven’t said much on this front, but the truth is that a lot of the delays have been the result of me simply not writing script. I’ve “known” where the story is going, and what pitfalls and discoveries are awaiting our heroes for quite some time now, but I just haven’t had the script for it. That part of my brain has just been dead. But I started writing again the other week. The rest of this chapter is ready to go, just needs to be drawn. So we’re going full steam ahead again.

So here’s what I’m doing. There are roughly 10 weeks between now and Finder’s Keepers’ 2nd anniversary (Halloween). There are 8 pages left in chapter 4, and subsequently the end of volume 1. So, here’s the deal I’m making with all you amazing fans: you’ve been endlessly good to me, time for me to do the same. There will be NO MISSED UPDATES between now and the end of the chapter. With the anniversary you’ll be seeing a new website that’s been in the works to improve on some of the current site’s reading features, and to correct others that were great ideas but didn’t work out so well.

I can’t pinpoint a date, but you’ll also see Finder’s Keepers become available as a trade paperback sometime this fall (absolutely in time for Christmas). Sadly a lot of the details are dependent on the printers. But, it’s happening.

More immediately, I’m going to be at Baltimore Comic Con this weekend, table A220 (wherever that is, we’ll find out together!). I haven’t been to BCC since the early days of Comedity. It’ll be interesting to go back and be in a more traditional comic convention environment. I hope I’ll see some of you fantastic fans there.

-Garth

Good to hear! I’ve checked in occasionally, but may be checking in more often if there’s regular updates. I really like your art, and the world you’ve created is definitely intriguing. Is your version of Death influenced by Neil Gamain’s in his Sandman comics? I can see similarities, but that could just be due to them both being lady Deaths. I’m looking forward to reading more frequently.
P.S. Sorry to nitpick, but I’m fairly sure it should be ‘Too Bad!’ as opposed to ‘To Bad!’.

Welcome back, Garth. :) I’ve been reading you for a very long time, and I’m happy to hear you’re not just coping but pressing on. Best of luck to you! I’ll certainly still be here, whatever comes along later.

Admittedly, I can’t wait to see what’s in store for our heroes. I’ve recommended this comic to everyone I know, and I will be buying the trade paperback. This is a certainty!

My condolences for your loss, and the terrible time you had recently. Things can only move up. :)

Welcome back Garth. I still miss Comedity (been reading it for years), but this is shaping up to be a great comic as well. I look forward to reading it for a very long time.

Welcome back Garth! It’s great to see that you’re striving forward and working towards being much more productive than you have been (in terms of the comic anyway as far as I can see) in the last couple of weeks. Just don’t wear yourself out doing it either! If you really can’t post a page one day, we, your readers/fans, will completely understand.

I’m sorry for your loss but am very happy to see that you are working your way through it. May only good days be ahead for you!

    Cheers.

Welcome back! I am new to reading Finders Keepers and it’s only been a few days but I am already obsessed with it. My friend introduced me to it and I love it! I can’t wait to see what else is in store. Thank You :D

I have been looking for a new comic to read and thought I would never find one that’s interesting and fun to read. But yours really hit it on the head. Keep going, can’t wait to see what happens next. :D

Good to have you back man, good to have you back. :)

P.S. (and sorry for commenting twice, but I forgot to add)

Even without color, the page looks great. Reminds me of the first chapter actually.

Trade paperbacks, huzzah! I will definitely be buying one.

I bumped into you at the artist’s alley at Animazement, bought the first issue, and promptly became hooked. Your work is excellent, and I am dying to know where the plot is going. I love the concept!

I would also like to point out how thrilled I am that Robin Goodfellow made an appearance. I love that guy.

    You are a god.
Good on you man, it’s good to see an artist take his project to its fullest. I’ve followed your work since Comedity, and seen it become some of the best art anywhere, web or print. I wish you the best of luck on this new mission, and hope you won’t work yourself into the ground pursuing it.
    You are a god.

    Santa, I’ve been a good girl this year, here’s my list…. :D

It’s now 9/21 and updates are still few and far between since the “There will be NO MISSED UPDATES between now and the end of the chapter” promise. I’ve been a fan of Garth, Comedity, and Finders Keepers for a long time, but I find I have to stop reading FK weekly and go back to monthly. While this doesn’t help ad revenue/page hits its the only way to try and stay in the story. One page every few weeks is just so long that all mood, tension etc. is completely lost. It might work for short arcs or single cartoons but its just killing what Finders Keepers could really be, and how great it was in the beginning. I wish you the best Garth, but I wonder how many others are falling away for the same reason? Now my conscience bugs me, so I’ll go buy a T-shirt or something from GCG store…

  14. Hi! This is kind of off topic but I need some guidance from an established blog. Is it very difficult to set up your own blog? I’m not very techincal but I can figure things out pretty fast. I’m thinking about setting up my own but I’m not sure where to start. Do you have any points or suggestions? Appreciate it
